Our practice

An eye exam should feel like a conversation, not a conveyor belt.

SightSaverz is a small, independent practice built around a simple idea: spend enough time with each patient to actually understand what they need. We explain what we find in plain language, we never pressure you into a product, and we will happily refer you on if that is the right call.

Most of our patients are neighbours who will be back next year, and the year after that. That shapes how we work — carefully, without rushing, and with a record that is accurate enough to be useful to your GP or a specialist if you ever need it.

  • Unhurried appointments

Time for the full work-up, plus the questions you forgot to ask.

  • Modern equipment

Digital refraction and intraocular pressure measured as standard.

  • Clear explanations

You leave knowing what was found and what to do about it.

  • Easy to fit around you

Online booking, and you can move your own appointment in seconds.

What we do

Care that looks at the whole picture.

From a first eye test to your annual check-up, and from a single pair of glasses to a first contact-lens fitting.

Comprehensive eye exams

A full assessment of your vision and eye health — refraction, eye pressure, and a look at the retina and front of the eye. Referral to a specialist if something needs it.

Prescriptions & lens advice

We explain what your prescription actually means, then recommend the lens type that suits how you really use your eyes — not just what fits the numbers.

Frames & eyewear

An on-site dispensary with a range of frames, from plain everyday pairs to something with a bit more character. Fitted and adjusted in person.

Contact lenses

Fitted and taught properly, including hygiene and safe handling. We would rather talk you out of lenses if they are not the right call for you.

Kids eye care

Vision and eye health checks for children, with a calm, patient approach and clear advice for parents on screens, reading and squinting.

Repairs & adjustments

Bring us your existing frames. We can tighten, realign, and adjust the nose and temple pieces so they sit properly again.

How it works

Four steps, no surprises.

  1. Book online

Pick a date and what you need. We email you a reference straight away.

  2. Your examination

A full eye test and health check, usually 30 to 45 minutes.

  3. Your results

We explain the findings and agree a prescription or next step with you.

  4. Collection & follow-up

Fitted, adjusted, and checked again if anything feels off.

Eyewear

Frames worth wearing every day.

We keep a deliberately edited selection rather than an overwhelming wall of choice. Every pair in the dispensary has been tried on, measured, and adjusted by us — so what you pick is something we would wear ourselves.

  • Single vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses
  • Anti-reflective, blue-light and photochromic options
  • Children’s frames with impact-resistant lenses
  • Fitted in practice — measurements, alignment, comfort

Common questions

Before you come in.

How much does an eye test cost?

Our eye examination fee depends on the type of consultation and your individual needs. Contact us on 060 988 9806 for our current pricing and to confirm whether your medical aid covers the consultation.

Do you accept medical aid?

We work with most major South African medical schemes. Bring your medical aid card and ID so we can verify your benefits before your appointment. Your cover depends on your specific plan and available optical benefits.

How long does an eye examination take?

Allow approximately 30 to 45 minutes for a comprehensive eye examination. Your appointment may take longer if additional testing or assessments are required.

What should I bring to my appointment?
  • Your ID document, especially if you're a new patient.
  • Your medical aid or medical scheme card, if applicable.
  • Your existing spectacles or contact lenses, if applicable.
  • Your current prescription, if you have a copy.
  • Any referral letter from your GP or specialist, if applicable.
  • A list of any medications you currently take.
  • For a child, the child's identification/details and a parent or guardian, where required.
Do you see children?

Yes. We provide eye care for children. When booking, select the appropriate children's eye-care service and provide the child's details. A parent or guardian should accompany the child where required.

How often should I have my eyes tested?

The recommended frequency depends on your age, eye health, medical history, vision needs and whether you wear spectacles or contact lenses. We can recommend an appropriate follow-up schedule after your examination.

Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?

Yes. Use the “Plans changed?” form above with your booking reference and the email address used when booking. If your appointment has already been completed or cancelled, please call us on 060 988 9806 for assistance.

How long does it take to get my new glasses?

The turnaround time depends on your prescription, frame, lenses and any lens options selected. We will give you an estimated collection date when your order is placed.
